RAL to HEX Converter & Color Chart
Search a RAL Classic code or name to get its HEX, RGB and CMYK screen values. The chart of all 213 colours is further down the page.
German names work too — “Anthrazitgrau” and “7016” find the same colour.
HEX
Approximate screen value — RAL HEX codes are sRGB approximations, not measured samples.
RAL Classic codes as HEX and RGB
RAL Classic is the colour collection behind most European paint and powder-coating orders. Our data lists 213 colours, each with a four-digit code whose first digit names the colour family: 1 yellows, 2 oranges, 3 reds, 4 violets, 5 blues, 6 greens, 7 greys, 8 browns and 9 whites and blacks.
Pick a code and the converter shows its HEX value with the red, green and blue channels, plus CMYK, CIELAB and HSV worked out from the same value. Those are the numbers a website, a CAD render or a sales presentation needs to show a coating colour on screen.
A RAL colour itself is a physical sample, not a number. The HEX code is an sRGB approximation for screens, so to order paint or powder coating, quote the RAL code.

How to use this RAL to HEX converter
Say a building’s window frames are RAL 7016 and the architect’s website needs the same grey. Search 7016, copy the HEX value into the stylesheet, and keep quoting RAL 7016 to the coater: the HEX is for screens only.
- Type a RAL number or name into the search box — “7016”, “Anthracite” and “Anthrazitgrau” all work — or tap one of the common codes.
- Read the HEX value, with the red, green and blue channels beneath it.
- Copy HEX for CSS and design tools, or take the RGB, CMYK, LAB or HSV value from the panel below it.
- To look up many codes at once, use the chart further down: every RAL Classic colour has its own row.
- Quote the RAL code, not the HEX, when you order paint or powder coating.
How we calculate
Each RAL Classic colour is stored in our data as an sRGB HEX value (D65 white point). RGB is that HEX value decoded channel by channel, which is exact. CIELAB uses the D65 white point, and CMYK comes from a simple formula with no printer profile, so treat it as a starting point for print rather than a press-ready build. The chart and the converter read the same data, so they always agree.
Accuracy — read before you specify a colour
A RAL Classic colour is defined by a physical sample of paint, and a HEX code is light on a screen. The HEX and RGB values here are sRGB approximations from our dataset, not measurements, and other sources list slightly different values for the same RAL code. Use them for screens and mock-ups; for anything that will be painted or coated, compare against a physical RAL colour card.
No ΔE is shown on this page because nothing is matched: turning a HEX code into RGB is exact arithmetic. The approximation sits one step earlier, in the sRGB value chosen to stand for each physical RAL colour.
In short: conversion values on this page are approximate, because the two systems use different colourants and cover different gamuts. Verify against the physical colour standard (a printed guide or fan deck) before committing to production, tooling or a signed-off brand spec.
